How to calculate a tip and split the bill

Three fields. Useful when four people are staring at a receipt and no one wants to do the maths.

   Enter the bill total

   Type the amount before tip — what's on the receipt, not including any service charge already added.

2. 02

   Pick a tip percentage

   Use a preset (10%, 15%, 18%, 20%, 25%) or type a custom number. 15% is the floor for decent service; 20% is the norm in the US for good service.

3. 03

   Split it

   Enter how many people are splitting the bill. You'll see the tip per person and the total each person owes — no one has to do mental arithmetic at the table.
